Endodontic therapy is often referred to as a root canal. This mode of treatment is often called for to restore a tooth that suffers from a large untreated cavity or a significant dental fracture. Unfortunately, if too much healthy dental structure has been compromised, Dr. Niloufer Hamsayeh might recommend replacing the traumatized tooth with a dental bridge.
This type of dental work is essentially an artificial tooth that mimics the appearance of the original. It is fused into one single piece of dental work with a hollow crown at each end. It will eventually be anchored onto abutments formed out of the healthy core of the two closest teeth.
Once the two abutments have been prepared, Dr. Niloufer Hamsayeh will take a detailed impression. This will be sent to our dental lab to guide technicians in creating your dental bridge. When your dental bridge is ready, you will need to return to Dr. Niloufer Hamsayeh’s clinic. To install it in your mouth, she will remove the temporary crowns and cement it onto the pair of abutments with a very strong dental adhesive. This will restore the badly compromised tooth for the many long years ahead.
