The Steps Involved In Dental Crown Treatment

If you are repairing your weak, broken, or unattractive tooth with a dental crown in San Francisco, California, then our Swati Agarwal, DDS team is more than happy to help you prepare for your appointment!

Sometimes a dental appointment can be a bit frightening, especially if you aren’t sure what to expect. So, to help you feel more comfortable in the dental chair and to help you prepare for your appointment, we ask you to expect the following steps when you come into our office:

-Step 1: First, your dentist will prepare your tooth for the crown. In order to do so, she will numb your tooth and surrounding tissues with a local anesthetic. Then, she will trim the surface of the tooth to make room for the crown.

-Step 2: Once the tooth is the correct size and shape, your dentist will make impressions of your tooth and will send those impressions to a dental lab. The lab technicians will create a crown that is perfect for your smile. While you wait, you will be given a temporary crown.

-Step 3: When your new crown is done, you will come back to our office to get it placed. Your dentist will first check the fit and appearance of the crown and if it exceeds expectations, she will permanently cement it into place.
