How often do you reassess your dental care routine? When was the last time you changed your toothbrush? And do you consistently brush and floss every day? If you haven’t considered how you are taking care of your teeth in a while, now is the time! When assessing how you take care of your smile, there are THREE important items to check off your list:
1. You brush twice a day for at least two minutes (morning and night).
2. You floss at least once a day.
3. You see the dentist at least every six months.
Another step you can take when protecting your smile from bacteria is using mouthwash. It’ll not only help get in between teeth but also give you fresh breath in a flash! We also recommend making sure you brush before bed, so your mouth doesn’t sit still while bacteria invade. Aside from keeping up on your oral hygiene, we want you to consider using an electric toothbrush. By using an electric toothbrush, you can reach those nooks and crannies in your mouth that a regular toothbrush can’t access. The vibrating and oscillating movements allows the bristles to brush away lingering bacteria and food particles as well as get closer to the gums to clean them.
We recommend either the Sonicare or Oral B electric brush. The Sonicare has a regular-sized head that can cover more surface area. The Oral B brush has a smaller circular head, allowing it to really get in the smaller parts of the mouth. Both give a gentle, more effective brush that can help get rid of plaque, whiten teeth and focus on the overall health of your gums and teeth.
